Hanoi to LP flights

Does anyone know if its cheaper to buy a return flight to Luang Prabang when in Hanoi or over the internet prior to travelling?

I%26#39;m not sure if it%26#39;s cheaper but I do know that there aren%26#39;t a lot of flights - on the day we%26#39;re doing that trip there%26#39;s only one flight so we decided to book in advance to make sure we got seats. There%26#39;s probably a good chance they%26#39;re cheaper in Hanoi though.

I think it%26#39;s only vietnam airlines and lao airlines that fly; we booked vietnam airlines through expedia (couldn%26#39;t seem to book direct with the airline).

not sure what you paid on expedia, but i%26#39;ve read thru out this forum that its cheaper to book while IN vietnam. I am planning on flying Hanoi to LP but am going to wait til I get to vietnam before booking the flight.

I am in Vietnam now and was at the Vietnam Airlines this morning. Hanoi to Luang Prabang is $174 including taxes. I do not know how that compares with what is available out of Vietnam. Bring $ or convert to Dong. Credit card purchased are charged an additional 4%.

I decided to get mine online with Laoairlines in the end and paid $330 inc return

$174 for a one way ticket including taxes on Vietnamese Airways. There are promotional fares on domestic tickets but not on international flights.

Those prices sound pretty much what you could get them for from the uk - think our single fare was about $180-$190 equivalent (although it%26#39;s hard to tell with exchange rates now !!)

Feeling quite relieved now - glad to see we didn%26#39;t actually pay any more in the end by booking it here !

Also sounds exactly what I paid purchasing it in Australia. Perhaps it is only cheaper when flying domestically. It is good to have paid and booked when there are few flights. Good luck!

i was in Hanoi 2 days ago and i have to fly from Luang Pabang to hanoi in 3 weeks..

In Hanoi i found flight starting from 130 USD one way to 207 USD depending on the travel agency and which company you choose!!! The cheapest is LAOS AIRLINES (130 USD-160 USD)

The last really honest guy told me to wait and get to Laos before booking because from there is cheaper..

Just 2 companies fly from LP to Hanoi: Laos Airlines (cheaper) and Vietnam Airlines.
