If you are travelling to Lao [or from] via Vietnam think about the crossing at Nameo in Huaphan province. No visas issued at the border but it gives you the opportunity to visit Viengxay. A place of significant histoy and incredible natural beauty.
For %26#39;pioneer%26#39; travellers, well worth the tiring journey. Not too many have been there yet.
