Any tips on bus travel from LP to VV? We%26#39;re ok to pay $10-$15 for a more ';deluxe'; bus (don%26#39;t want to take the public bus for so many hours). Any thoughts?

hihi i just did the LP to VV to VTE a few weeks ago. the ';vip'; bus what tourists take. But don%26#39;t expect anything... our bus from LP to VV took 13 hours due to 2 flat tires and then a car accident ahead of us that blocked the road.

Then the bus from VV to VTE, which i remember cost us 50,000kip from one of the friends bars, had ZERO a/c so we sweat the whole ride there.

they also stick your bags on the roof of the bus but then they put a tarp over.

both trips are also on very windy rocky mountain roads so be prepared if you are susceptible to motion sickness.

I was in Luang Prabang a couple of weeks ago and got the bus to Vang Vieng. 3 bus options were:

Regular bus = 55,000 KIP

Air con bus = 110,000 KIP

VIP bus = 140,000 KIP

(May be slightly out on the prices but that is about right, can convert into whatever currency necessary)

I took the air con bus and it was fine, took around 6-7 hours, the journey is pretty slow and the roads are windy, but it wasnt that bad. And the bus was pretty comfortable.

You dont need to book tickets in advance - you can get them from pretty much anywhere in Luang Prabang city centre (travel agents and guesthouses all sell them) or alternatively you can buy a ticket at the bus station which will be a bit cheaper.

Finally the air con bus goes at 7am and again at 8am - also buses at 9 and 10. Again, the travel agents in the city will all have the schedules - so would just find out the day before you plan to leave.
