Laos-Hanoi

Hi there..

anyone knows if there%26#39;s any chance to cross the border in north Laos to go to Hanoi in Vietnam without going south to Danang and north again??

I have to be in Hanoi in a few day and fly to Hanoi is quite expensive now (both from Vientaine and LP)..

I know that there%26#39;re at least a couple of borders in the north of Laos but are they accessible? if Yes, any bus? or is too long to go that way???

Many thanks...

Hi. You can travel by bus from Vientiane [25hours], Luang Prabang [19 hours] or Xieng Khouang [7 hours.

Buses are local so times can be approximate.Travel to Sam Neua and cross the border at Nameo. Visas are not issued at the crossing so you need your visa for Vietnam before arrival.Travel from border by bus is about 300 kms to Hanoi [about 8 hours] or 400 hours to Mai Chau. Best days to travel Sunday and Thursday when the bus is waiting at the border or Saturday when the bus from Sam Neua goes all the way to the coast.

Thank you very much for the info..finally we decided to fly just because we tried the local buses and as we are in a rush we don%26#39;t wanna risk to miss the flight back to Europe..

We went from Vientaine to LP by bus (VIP) and it took 14 hours with accident included (quite risky but we were lucky we ended up in the good side of the road) so...

:-)

Cheers

Thanks - go well!
