I and my friends are staying Bangkok. We are planning to make a tour 4 days by ourselves on the Songkran Festival from (Bangkok to Vientiane and then to Luangprabang and come back Bangkok)(*1) or (from Bangkok to Luangprabang and then to Vientiane and come back Bangkok)(*2). We are planning to go by bus. But we do not know which tour (*1) or (*2) is better or more convenience. So, everybody please reccommend us what way should we go?.

Bangkok - Luang Prabang - Vientiane by bus
The most practical is via Vietiane in each direction. There are bus/train to Khon Kaen on the Thai border, then a bus to Vientiane. There are regular buses Vientiane-Luang Prabang and VV.
You should know that Songkran is THE major festival in the region, especially in Thailand, a day or two before, one the first and last day and the day after Songkran, all forms of public transport wiil be packed out with folks travelling to and from home.
