Coconut milk in the coconut available?

I was wondering if you can buy the coconut milk drinks in Laos that are like the real coconut with the top chopped off so you can fit a straw in? I love this coconut drink so much - just the natural thing! Does anyone know if it is available throughout Laos and how much it costs?

Thank you!!

Joy are you serious or are you taking the mickey out of everyone? Its about 5-6 thousand kip for a coconut.

Hi Rufuscat...I must sound naive....yes, I was serious...there is no mention in any guidebooks and I couldn%26#39;t remember us drinking them when we were there last. So THANK YOU!!! I%26#39;m thinking we can drink coconut juice instead of using polluting water bottles...and 6000 kip...well, that must be cheap? I%26#39;ll have to consult the guidebook as the currency converter doesn%26#39;t have kip.

Thanks again for answering all these weird questions!! (our family are coconut juice lovers!)

As I don%26#39;t think there is any guidebook with the accurate exchange rate, as currently the USD go down against the Kip, 1 USD is about 8700 kip.... (even less this days)... and I suppose will continue to go down.

And enjoy the coconut ! (Nam mak Pao !)

My friends serve a coconut instead of water.(I personally prefer Beerlao...)

The watery juice in a fresh coconut is called ';coconut juice'; or ';coconut water';. ';Coconut milk'; is something very different. It is the fatty ';milk'; you get after grinding the white flesh of the coconut, and is used only in cooking, never ever for drinking.
