Would those who have traveled to Laos recommend going through a tour company, or traveling independently?
We (family of 4) are hoping to travel independently, using drivers and guides when we visit sites/attractions, as the thought of being shuttled from location to location doesn%26#39;t seem appealing to us. Unless of course due to the language barriers/etc it would be better? Thoughts?

If you are planning to do LP and Vientiane then you can do your own thing and book flights and hotels direct.
You can pick up guides if need be when you arrive.
If your plans are more detailed than this then a local specialist can put it together for you.
