Flights from UK to where?

Hi there. Spent hours looking through all the posts but still undecided. We are planning a 2 week trip to Laos in November. Coming from London (having already been to Bangkok last year) whats the best way to get there? An itinerary suggestion, taking in all the main sites, would be a great help too.

Don%26#39;t want you to do all the work but I am confused....

Btw, we are in our early (very early!) 50%26#39;s so would want comfortable accommodation but not particularly 5 star places.

Thank you

The twice daily Thai flights from LHR link up with their flights to Vientiane.

We caught the 21.30 evening flight from London and after a 3 hour stop over at BKK caught the 18.00hrs flight and were in the Green Part Hotel for drinks by 20.45-like you we like our comfort but not necessarily 5*.

If you wanted to go from LHR/BKK and then LP the connections don%26#39;t work and may involve an night in BKK.

You can get cheaper airline links but prefer Thai for through connections.

We used Laoairlines (booked on line) for internal flights and used BangkokAir for our flight from Luang Prabang back to Bangkok and a few days later caught the Thai 13.30 back to LHR arriving 19.30 same evening.

See my postings on Green Park and also the Villa Santi Resort in Luang Prabang.

Delighted with all our flights - all comfortable, and on time .

See www.airlinequality.com for write ups on the three airlines.

If you want to spend a day or so in Bangkok first, an easy and cheap way to get to Vientiane is by taking the overnight train to Nong Khai (cost us about US$38 each first class sleeper). The train is clean, comfortable and good fun, and at the Nong Khai end it%26#39;s very simple to get a tuktuk to the Friendship Bridge.

As I already mentioned, Green Park is nice but too expensive unless you have an unlimited budget. For comfortable accomodation try Villa Manoley - an old French Villa with large comfortable rooms.
