you take the night train from bangkok to nong khai. cross here into laos then a 10 minute tuk tuk ride to vientiiane.

There is no train to Vientiane. As has been pointed out, there is an oernighter to Nongkai. You then have to take a taxi or a tuk tuk to the friendship bridge, secure your visa and take a 20 min taxi ride to Vientiane. You are better off flying.

We used the overnight train as part of our journey from Bangkok to Vientiane and really enjoyed the whole process. It%26#39;s much cheaper than flying, and more interesting. The only aspect we didn%26#39;t enjoy was the train food and next time I would take more supplies.

Hmm thats odd. The last time that I checked, 850 Baht for an Air Asia ticket from Bkk to Udon Thani was cheaper than

(1,217 (£17, $30) for a first class sleeper.

I plan to fly by AirAsia from HCMC to Bangkok then take overnight train to Nong Khai. I%26#39;d like to ask:

- How far is the railways station from the low cost int%26#39;l terminal?

- Any chance for me to catch my train after landing without staying in Bangkok for 1 night/day?

the train leaves BKK for Nong Khai at about 800 pm and if you fly into Don Maung airport you can catch the train at the Don Maung station , if flying into BKK you have to go downtown but the subway goes there
