I second the suggestion of an upstairs room at Beau Rivage. Tripadvisor has a number of reviews for you to read.

Hi - whilst it doesn%26#39;t have a view and is not on the river, the Greenpark Boutique Hotel on Khouvieng Rd has very nice rooms full of contemporary Lao furniture, is set in well manicured gardens and markets itself as %26#39;boutique%26#39;.
