Bus - VIP or Minivan?

Hi

We are plannning to travel from Vientiane to Vang Vieng and then on to LP by bus. Which is best (quickest/fastest)? Will I need to prebook for late Nov, there are 4 of us?

Hi -

for the aircon tourist bus you would be best to prebook in vientiane a day or 2 before hand. There are only 2 trips per day and they do fill up.

The %26#39;local%26#39; bus is the same speed and they are much more frequent, every 90 minutes or so, and no need to book for these, just go to the northern bus station from your hotel by tuktuk.

The same applies when leaving from VV to LP - best to prebook by a day for the aircon bus, no need for the regular buses.

To add to the other post, you can catch a local bus for much cheaper at Dalat Sao (morning market). There are many buses leaving from here in the morning, but the latest leaves at 2 in the afternoon. Onward from Vang Vieng, it might be best to book the night before, as these buses can fill up. No need to do any major pre-planning... everything seems to fall into place in Laos.
