Hi -
My husband and I are planning a trip to Laos this December. If I can please receive some advise on the below itinerary (which one to choose or do I have time to do a combination?), specially best way to transport from place to place. We are flying from NY city to Bangkok but not sure what route to choose from there. We have about 7 days:
1. Luang Nam Tha to Nong Khiaw: three days
2. Luan Prabang: two days
3. Plain of Jars: two days
OR
1. Luang Prabang: two days
2. Nong Khiaw to Vieng Xai: three days
3. Plain of Jars:two days
From here we are going to Vietnam and spend another 7 days. We like treking but also very interested in the cultural side as we have not been in South east Asia before.
Itinerary Northern Laos LP to ?
Thanks in advance for the advise. Also worth to mention we are willing to spend a bit more on transportation if it saves us time.
Itinerary Northern Laos LP to ?
Hi Claxico,
With your short term in Laos, I would recommend skipping the Plain of Jars (is a long bus trip from Luang Prabang) and spending more time in and around Luang Prabang. The time you have for Luang Namtha and Nong Khiaw seems about right, but would spend more time in Luang Prabang.
From Bangkok I would recommend flying to Chiang Rai and then crossing into Laos at Chang Khong from where you can head north to Luang Namtha and continue in a loop to end up in Luang Prabang (from where you can fly to Hanoi).
Enjoy your trip.
