Vientiane to Plain of Jars to Luang Prabang

Hi,

We are staying for 2 nights in Vientiane and 3 nights in Luang Prabang. Can anyone tell me if it%26#39;s possible to go from Vientiane to Plain of Jars and then on to LP either through a tour op or independently? And would we need to spend a night at Phonsaven?

Sure, it%26#39;s possible to do, but much too tiring as a daytrip, and a waste of time as Phonsavan (the town where the jars are) is worth spending at least a day or two to see. If I had limited time, I would opt for Vientiane and Luang Prabang only, and save the jars for another trip. Travel/things are slow in Laos, and it is not worth rushing...
