Easy way from Luang Prabang to Hanoi

I know this has been posted before, but does anyone know of more recent information on getting from Luang Prabang to Hanoi. I know Lao Airlines has a semi-daily flight, but are they reliable/safe? Any other options? We are trying to fit a trekking trip in the hills for a couple of days and we want to limit the time travelling. Thanks much!

Hi - Lao airlines are reliable %26amp; as safe as flying can be for the main routes. They share with Vietnam Airlines. If you%26#39;re short of time its the only way really - the road to the border through Sam Neua is very windy and mountainous so very slow going.

I will fly by Lao Airlines from LP and arrive Hanoi at 17pm. Is it safe to book a connecting flight to Saigon at 19pm?

Hey I am going to be in Saigon in Oct and would like to go to LP...

Parkhopper - is going through Hanoi the only way that you%26#39;ve found? There are no direct flights to/from Saigon/LP? Also could you advise generally what your flight is costing you.. someone quoted me $244 each way from Saigon to LP... just wondering if that is the norm.

Lao Airlines offers me flight Saigon-Vientiane (transit at Phnom Penh)-Luang Prabang which costs $301.

From Saigon you can fly to Hue or Vinh then take bus to Vientiane.
