Book Vientiane to LP flight in advance or when we arrive?

Hi,

We are wondering if we should book in advance with this flight or just wait until we are in the country? We are thinking of spending 3 or so days around Vientiane. Do you think this would be enough time to find a flight for 6 people? We would be flying early July.

Why take the chance of having the flights be full? Book them! It%26#39;s very easy to do on Laos airlines website.

You would almost cetainly pick up a flight, but as the above poster says, ';Why run the risk';. Is there a problem about booking flights from Oz? There is a Laos Airlines agent in Melbourne that I know of for sure.

I don%26#39;t think there%26#39;s any problem booking them from here, our concern was that we didn%26#39;t want to be stuck to certain dates. Our idea is to spend some time in Vientiane - go out to the elephant salt lick and just relax. If we book flights now then we may find ourselves rushing back to fly onwards...and we really want to avoid the whole rushing, stressing bit. Our plan is to go slow, spend time with the locals and enjoy the journey fully. Our children (especially our 7 year old) are very very social and I%26#39;m hoping that Lao children will be open to inviting our kids to play with them. Our kids are nature loving and people loving (we don%26#39;t allow TV during the week at all, favouring visiting natural locations for play etc) so I don%26#39;t see them getting bored...oh dear, I%26#39;m getting well and truly off the original subject aren%26#39;t I??? This is because I spent all afternoon reading the majority of Laos posts...so much excellent information.

Since July is pretty much in the midst of rainy season, you should have no trouble getting a flight when you arrive. That said, it would be an utter inconvenience for you to have to waste precious time once you%26#39;ve arrived hanging out at travel agencies IF things should be booked up. I always book in advance myself...

Thank you for your help! We will book the flight in advance on your advice. We%26#39;ll just leave Vientianne after the first day so we can come back to it later (return by road).
