Heading to Thailand and Laos in a month. Wondering what everyone%26#39;s sentiments are on trekking in Chaing Mai or in Luang Probang.
Thanks so much for any advice!

Trekking...Thailand v. Laos
I was in CM and Lp this July. I went to CM first and flew to LP. I did overnight trip for trekking and kayaking in Lp. I absolutely loved it. We did not encounter any other trek or kayak group during our trip. We went with Green discovery. The country side is so beautiful. We visited 3 tribe villages and had a lunch prepared by them.If you into trekking you can do multi days that take you further remote area. I heard you have a choice of either camping or homestay.
Trekking...Thailand v. Laos
In northern lao there is very nice trekking based from (new) Luang Namtha, Oudomxay or Pha Tok. These vary from 1 day to 3 days generally and are organised through agents in the 3 small towns mentioned. The treks are more %26#39;remote%26#39; than what you will experience in Chaing mai and even LP Province.
