Vang Vieng - Things To Do

hi, we are a group of female mountaineers and we would like to know what are the tours/outdoor stuff available in vang vieng.

i heard that kayaking there is beautiful, can anyone attest to this? and if so, from where or what agency should we book?

basically we will only be in vang vieng whole afternoon on the first day and whole morning on the second day since we intend to leave in the afternoon for luang prabang.

will it be safe to travel by bus at night? and would public transport be also available in the afternoon for luang prabang?

There is a rock climbing place just opened 6 months or so ago - but not sure you%26#39;d fit it into a half-day. Its on the main drag towards the bus station end.

The kayaking is nice but tends to be done in large groups and is fairly sedate (sit-on-tops rather than real river kayaks) but scenery is very pleasant. I don%26#39;t know of kayak rental without being part of a group though - never seen it advertised in VV or Vientiane.

Bus travel is of course safe but the last local bus leaves for LP about 4-5pm I think. After that you can get a communal truck every 20 mins or so but you will miss the scenery at night - worth seeing between VV ad LP
