Hi,
I%26#39;m going to be in Laos in 2 weeks time and am hearing stories of bad flooding at the moment. We are travelling over the boarder along the river for 2 days from Thailand and then ending up in Luang Prabang.
Is the situation at all dire? Or will we be fine?
Any advice would be much appreciated!
Thanks!
Weather in Laos - flooding??!
water levels have gone down now with no flooding but it is still rainy season so it could go up again, you can keep track of it yourself on the Mekong river commission website www. mrcmekong. org, and go to flood forecasting, look at the stations you will be at (LP), and check the lastest news section too, its updated every day, callao

Why go to Laos for the weather-just look out of the window.
Hi Thanks for your advice - really helpful!
I%26#39;m not going to Laos just for the weather - but not keen to got there if there are flash flood warnings... would rather go somewhere else instead if thats the case.
Hopefully it will be fine in 2 weeks, fingers crossed

Long range forecast on weather.com and accuweather.com for VTE shows occasional thunderstorms until 18th then brightening up.
best of luck.
Great! Thank you - will check it out
Much appreciated!
Statistic shows that there are normally 2 pics regarding the level of the Mekong.
One in August and the 2nd one ussually end of August.
After the 10th September, there is no more risk of mekong flooding.... of course acoording to past experience.
Even if it is still rainy season, since more than a week, it is sunshine every day with some rains at night time !
Good luck
