Eating in Vietiane

While Lonely Planet claims Vietiane might probably be one of the better values for eating in SE Asia, ';probably'; is the key word here. Phnom Penh and Vientiane are on equal food footing, price and quality alike. Lonely Planet overrates eating.

Food is OK, prices OK, a variety of choices from Chinese, to Indian, to French and Italian. On average from $5 to $8. Little of it sterling. Latioan dark beer is definitely worth trying.

People shouldn%26#39;t rely so much on guide books, especially when it comes for food! I spend about $10 for 2 people doing some serious dining at Lao restaurants (including several large bottles of Beerlao) in Vientiane. The Beerlao dark is amazing indeed. Beerlao, IMO, is the best beer in Asia!

I can%26#39;t believe I didn%26#39;t get my Mum to try the dark Beerlao...another reason to return!!

How can you overrate eating?
