Four Thousand Islands

Today another traveller here in VIetnam told me about a place in South Of Laos called ';four Thousand Islands'; - it sounds wonderful - anyone out there with more info for me?? i would totally appreciate it as will be there next week and would like to know if i sould go there??? thanks a million, Karen

Four Thousand Islands

There are a bunch of islands, dunno about 4000 of them, and it is a very sleepy atmosphere, good if you are into reading books and chilling out, or on a honeymoon with someone you absolutely adore. My buddy said it is rainy season now so they%26#39;d call it ';2000 islands'; (as most of them would be submerged) but it would still be worth seeing. I was there in February for a week, and have business in Pakse again in September so will be there for another 5 days or so. Transport is a bit iffy, so make sure you allow yourelf plenty of time to get there and back. It%26#39;s known as ';Si Phan Don'; in Lao, and you can catch a bus there from Pakse.

Oh, you can have a look here travelfish.org/sights/…pakse for some good info on the area. You can check out Pakse, %26amp;/or the following information- Don Det, Don Khong (';don'; = island) to get some idea of what to expect down there. Cheers!

exellent and useful info...thanks!!! do u know if i can cross over border into Thailand from the south (ie below this isalnd area)? or do i have to go back to Ventiene to cross at Friendship bridge? karen

Yes, I%26#39;m sure it can be done. Look at the Travelfish site (I posted the link above I believe) and they should have all the border crossing info.
