Hi! I am going to Laos this Sept. Will spending 6 days there. Plan to visit Vientiane, LP and Phosavan. prefer to travel overland instead of flying. Is this doable?

You can fly Lao Airlines. There are flights to Phonsavan and LP. There was a flight from Phonsavan to LP but I am not sure if it still operates. I suggest you try the lao Airlines website which has time tables for these flights.

Hi - you won%26#39;t see much with the 3 destinations in 6 days but if this is fixed, you could for example:

spend a day and a night in Vientiane,

fly to LP in the morning of day 2,

spend 2 days and nights in LP,

then bus to Phonsavanh on day 4,

see the jars day 5, and fly back to Vientiane from Phonsavah day 6. Flights Phonsavanh -Vientiane are only 2-3 times a week so you%26#39;d have to plan for this.

If you take buses for all the journeys you would probably need to cut out one of the destinations.

Don%26#39;t even bother. Spend a couple days in Vientiane then a few days in Luang Prabang. Did you forget to mention you will have a small child in tow? Relax and smell the roses, it%26#39;ll really be worth it. The jars will be there your next time aorund...

I think you guys are right. Trying to explore too many places at one go.

Looking back, I have 6D/5N. Should I spend more time in LP or Vientiane (VT)? Any advise? Is it true that most of the interesting places in LP are just a few mins walk away? How about VT? Same?

Most guide books list lots of temples. Is it worth visiting all or which are the MUST-VISITs?

have a look at viang vieng, which is inbetween V and LP, and is a very liberal place, great fun tubing on river, and about 3 to 4 hours between the two.

It%26#39;s certainly easier to walk around LP than Vientiane. Not many people walk around Vientiane these days and unlike just a few years ago, few Lao people bicycle - only foreigners.

I think I read it somewhere that there is a difference in air fare for Lao Airlines from VT to LP if booked thru agents and online directly.

Is this true?
