Hi, I am travelling to Laos with my husband and 2 kids aged 5 and 7 years. What is there to see and do between Luang Prabang and Vang Vieng? I hear the trip is 6 hours drive... any suggestions would be great.
Thanks

not much for kids especially, just grin and bare it is my suggestion. also depends on how you are getting there.

I cycled that way at the end of last year. The views are spectacular through the mountain passes. Westerners are still quite unusual to many of the villagers. But there is very little development (part of the charm) and no town I would want to stay in with children.
Its a twisty windy road and the buses are not too concerned with passenger comfort. Let%26#39;s just say there are lots of lost breakfasts on the road.
I would suggest that you get a car and driver and mosey along at a more reasonable speed - and then take the time to jump out of the car from time to time. I think children would find it fascinating to meet kids their own age in a normal village where they are the curiosity. Just stopping the car in a village will guarantee that. PM me if you want some suggested stopping points.
I think the bus - even the VIP bus - would not be much fun for a 5 and 7 year old.
Cheers, --Kip
in all honesty mate, there is nothing. some remote villiges you can see pretty much anywhere in SE asia.
just get the trip over and done with. some purists will disagree, but its true, especially with two kids in tow.
